Research Areas |
Broad thematic focus on improving function of older adults with cardiovascular disease, including elements of multimorbidity, frailty, and polypharmacy, and overcoming disparities of care based on age, frailty, multimorbidity, and sex/socioeconomics (as age tends to includes more women survivors with dwindling socioeconomic assets) |
Health service research focused on improved administration of cardiac rehabilitation, including study of a coaching model, a transition model, improved exercise prescription, and advancing different models of care (site-based, remote-based, and hybrid combinations) |
Translational research on specific cellular mechanisms that determine functional attributes in older adults with cardiovascular disease, multimorbidity, and frailty, and the study of novel therapeutics (e.g., nitrite, metformin) to improve them, such that cellular bioenergetics as well as physical function/daily activity are all enhanced |
