The Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion maintains a commitment to expand mentoring, training, and educational programs that enhance research career development and increase VA and national capacity for rigorous health equity and health services research.The VA provides a number of opportunities for people to complete training experiences in a wide variety of occupations. VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System Intern and Fellowship Opportunities
Each year, nearly 1,300 people complete training experiences in a wide variety of occupations at VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. Students at the college, university, and post-graduate levels are encouraged to explore career training here.

VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System Interdisciplinary Addiction Program for Education and Research (VIPER)
Pittsburgh's VIPER program is located within the Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion (CHERP). The purpose of VIPER is to increase the number and professional diversity of VA clinicians, researchers, and educators prepared to reduce the burden of Veteran alcohol and other drug (AOD) use, addiction, and related health consequences in general medical and specialty settings.

CHERP Health Services Research Fellowship
The VA Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion (CHERP) supports up to four post-doctoral training positions for qualified physicians, nurses, physical therapists, pharmacists and PhD clinicians and non-clinicians who wish to develop and enhance skills in health services research.
