Funded Research Activities

Congratulations to two CHERP Career Development Awardees on their new funding from the VISN4 Competitive Pilot Project Fund (CPPF).  Mitesh Patel, MD, MBA, MS  -- “A Randomized Trial of Social and Financial Incentives to Increase Physical Activity Among Overweight and Obese Veterans. ” John Blosnich, PhD--“Using electronic health records to identify social determinants of health among VISN4 Veterans” The goal of the CPPF is to provide initial funding for clearly delineated research projects to develop preliminary data so that the investigator can apply successfully for competitive, external, peer-reviewed grant support at a later date. 


A key goal of the HSR&D funded Center of Innovation (COIN) program is for all Centers to support research leading to improvements in the care of vulnerable populations. The Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion (CHERP) has a critical mass of multidisciplinary investigators with specialized expertise in the field of health equity.
