Dr. Patrick Gleeson is an allergist/immunologist and health services researcher whose work focuses on improving asthma care through the identification and management of allergic triggers for asthma. His research evaluates barriers to inhalant allergen testing and the impact of this testing on patient outcomes, with the goal of increasing the uptake of allergy testing and of effective allergen mitigation strategies. He uses electronic health record and survey data to study these questions, and hopes to expand his work to incorporate mixed methods and implementation science approaches. He is particularly interested in understanding how these approaches can improve respiratory health among Veterans with asthma who were exposed to deployment-related airborne hazards.
