High-Risk Complex Patient Analytics and Care

Seeking candidates for a Post-Doctoral or Clinical Research Fellowship based at the VA Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion (CHERP) and the Caring for Complex Chronic Conditions Research Program at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA.

Fellows will conduct health services research designed to improve care for high-risk, complex patients, including those with multimorbidity.  This is an exciting opportunity to apply innovative and advanced data modeling techniques to ‘big data’ from healthcare systems to inform complex patient care.  Topics of ongoing research include data-based segmentation of high-risk complex patient populations and developing new applications for prediction and segmentation model use in clinical care.

Prior to the fellowship start date, applicants are expected to have earned a doctorate in a discipline such as health services research, applied statistics, epidemiology, public health, or health policy, or a clinical degree related to primary care (MD, RN) with relevant research experience.

Postdoctoral fellows are expected to collaborate on established projects and are also encouraged to lead analytic projects with an emphasis on study design, data analysis, and manuscript writing. Emphasis will be given to producing peer-reviewed publications taking advantage of available datasets. Clinical focus is on adult health conditions.

Mentorship will be primarily provided by Dr. Ann-Marie Rosland, Director of the Complex Chronic Conditions Research Program, with further mentorship or collaboration with other VA or University of Pittsburgh faculty as appropriate. Start date for the fellowship is flexible, but must occur by September 30, 2020.  Fellowships can be renewed for additional years. This is a federal government position; U.S. citizenship is required.
